Premier League introduces new concussion procedures

We talked about concussion a lot during the World Cup. i had to deal with concussion to an 18 year old who became dizzy 10 minutes after being hit in a hurling match just last week, of course he wanted to continue but thankfully the managem
ent would not even think of letting him continue and planned to have a slow introduction back into training the following week. Yesterday the Premier League introduced concussion prevention procedures. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Concussion Part 2

Just following on from the last blog post on concussion, here are a few bits of information for you. The links to the articles are at bottom are to the guidelines on concussion for both the GAA and IRFU, they are short and to the point so give them a look. Also included is a nice animated 5 minute video which explains concussion, nothing too complicated and a great one to show to children.

Although there were many low point in last nights semi final, the lowest one was easily watching Javier Mascherano lose consciousness, stumble off the field only to return a few minutes. He should not have been allowed to play on, end of story, the same goes for Uruguay midfielder Alvaro Pereira in the England game which was even worse.
