Concussion

Although there were many low point in last nights semi final, the lowest one was easily watching Javier Mascherano lose consciousness, stumble off the field only to return a few minutes. He should not have been allowed to play on, end of story, the same goes for Uruguay midfielder Alvaro Pereira in the England game which was even worse.

Concussion is also known as mild brain injury, mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), mild head injury and minor head trauma. Some experts define concussion as a head injury with temporary loss of brain function, which can cause cognitive, physical and emotional symptoms. Concussion may also be defined as an injury to the brain generally caused by a jolt or blow to the head, in the majority of cases the individual does not lose consciousness.

If FIFA aren't taking it seriously at the world cup then what chance do we have at club games in all sports? A concussion is a mild brain injury, this whole "stick him on the wing for a bit" culture is just dangerous, childish and selfish.
